As the United States channels unprecedented investments into broadband expansion, the nation’s counterparts worldwide are also ramping up their deployment efforts. In India, nearly 900 million out of its 1.4 billion population have adopted broadband services as of December 2022. Meanwhile, Australia said it’s on track to deliver broadband download speeds of at least 500 megabits per second to 90 percent of its homes and businesses by 2025. Across the ocean, South Africa is also making great strides in broadband buildouts. What lies behind such rapid expansion in those countries? How do they compare to the U.S.’s initiative under the bipartisan infrastructure law?

Dan Flemming is a senior executive and engineer with 25 years global experience and capability in the strategy development, establishment and management of large-scale deployment projects. His subject matter expertise delivers unique insight into the right engagement, delivery, commercial and risk strategies to be utilized based on customer and industry maturity and market dynamics. He has extensive experience in managing board-level expectations, including his former role of Head of Construction for NBN Co in Australia. BS Civil Engineering, University of New South Wales.

Niladri Dutta is an industry executive with two decades of global experience in advising telco majors in areas of technology strategy, CxOs advisory, Portfolio & product management, Digital and Operational transformation. He has been instrumental in delivery of major engagements, as subject matter expert in specific domains of Platform strategy, major networks roll outs, telco cloud adoption, Digital OSS-BSS, Ops transformation, as well as implementation of Analytics & AI. Presently he is the VP & Global Head of Telco Consulting and Industry Solutions in Virtusa, responsible for driving top line growth. Prior to this Niladri has worked with Accenture, Ericsson & Deloitte in many global and regional leadership roles.

Greg Wilson has successfully built and serviced a large portion of the South African telecommunications market. As CEO of Ripple Fiber, he is currently focussed expanding into the American market. His expertise is in conceptualizing business opportunities, testing business models, establishing and motivating teams, and building products from the ground up.

Breakfast Media LLC CEO Drew Clark has led the Broadband Breakfast community since 2008. An early proponent of better broadband, better lives, he initially founded the Broadband Census crowdsourcing campaign for broadband data. As Editor and Publisher, Clark presides over the leading media company advocating for higher-capacity internet everywhere through topical, timely and intelligent coverage. Clark also served as head of the Partnership for a Connected Illinois, a state broadband initiative.
