Biggles Labelling Specialists in Design, Manufacture and Supply of Interior Aircraft Placards and External Decals

Biggles Labelling Limited is the industry’s leading internal aircraft placards manufacturer and supplier. We provide an unrivalled portfolio of decals and placards for a full range of commercial, freight and executive aircraft.

Our current product range consists of more than 30,000 individual parts. Biggles Labelling stands out from other companies by offering a very broad placard and decal portfolio.

In 2019, we have introduced the Metalphoto system of anodized aluminium decals to our product range. This extremely durable and high-resolution decal system is specifically designed for utilisation in areas of the aircraft such as wheel wells, powerplants, auxiliary power units (APUs), cargo / freight holds and hydraulic bays. It is approved by Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky amongst others.

Formed in 1988, Biggles Labelling combines over 30 years of experience with unmatched standards of quality and dedication. Whether you are looking for individual placards or complete interior kits, Biggles Labelling offers solutions to all your placard and decal requirements.

Aviation-approved manufacturing materials and processes

Biggles Labelling produces all placards on the aviation-approved range of Sabic (formerly Lexan) and Makrofol flame-retardant polycarbonate substrates. All placards are manufactured in line with BMS10-26.

The placards undergo a reverse screen-printing process that combines excellent image definition with durability and longevity. This production method also allows accurate colour matches to be made to the cabin interior colour décor, utilising Pantone or RAL colour references, or even to pieces of cabin trim materials, which is a vital requirement when developing or refurbishing cabin interiors.

Our polycarbonate placards have received independent Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 25.853(a) approval and are supplied with 3M 467 / 468 high-bond adhesive backing. If required, even higher bond adhesive tapes can be used.

Our range of Metalphoto decals is suitable for various applications, including nameplates, barcode labels, maintenance schematics, operator control panels and safety protocols.

The completed decal is UV-stable, as the image is permanently sealed within the anodized aluminium. Completed decals are virtually impervious to chemicals, heat, abrasion, salt spray and sunlight.

Comprehensive placard products

Each aircraft type in our product portfolio is covered by an extensive range of placards, including all the manufacturer-fitted types, together with customised markers manufactured to fit customer specifications.

The placards cover all areas of the cabin interior, flight deck, passenger seats and crew rests. The range includes a full selection of foreign language and multilingual placards, including Far and Middle Eastern language options.

The Biggles Labelling range of galley placards offers two different options, which are polycarbonate placards that match the original placards, fitted to the galley units and polycarbonate placards that replace the OEM-fitted steel-plate placards.

The latter option utilises a unique two-part printing process to provide a genuine polished metal effect replica of the original placards.

ISO-controlled production standards

As a BS EN ISO 9001:2008-approved company, Biggles Labelling follows a strict production and quality control policy that is annually audited by independent assessors.

All products are supplied with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) certificate of conformance and are subject to quality checks at all stages of the manufacturing process. European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) F1 release can be supplied at an additional charge and lead time.

The details of every placard and decals are recorded on our stock control system that also cross-references with over 25,000 manufacturers’ part numbers, including Airbus, Boeing, DeHaviland Canada, Embraer and Gulfstream. With access to the latest coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and instrument proficiency checks (IPCs), our product range is constantly expanding.

Internal placards for aircraft

Recent Biggles Labelling projects include:

  • The manufacturing and supply of six complete Airbus A330-300 internal placard kits in English-Malaysian dual-language format. The placards were produced to match the new cabin interiors, fitted by the airline
  • A further expansion of the internal placard range for the new Boeing B787 aircraft to include placards in Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin, Polish, Indonesian and Azerbaijani
  • The introduction of an entirely new range of placards for a major European aircraft seating manufacturer. The placards have been designed and produced to match the unique nature of the first and business class cabins
  • The production and supply of placards to support the business class cabins of a major European flag carrier. These highly detailed and complex placards feature vital operational information about the passenger seats and fittings
