CCP Gransden recently had two entries for the Composites UK Awards shortlisted. Moreover, both awards were shortlisted down to the final two entries.
The premier award was the ‘Innovation in Manufacture Award’. This award sought to ‘find the most innovative composites solutions that will contribute greatly to the future of a UK company and the composites industry as a whole’. CCP Gransden demonstrated their pioneering single-stage overmoulding manufacturing process, which delivers a list of striking improvements for an aerospace prime and is applicable to various other projects, which CCP Gransden plans to enhance. CCP Gransden’s innovation was narrowly pipped for the win by the material supplier Cygnet Texkimp’s innovation in the manufacture of thermoplastic tapes.
The other runner-up award was the ‘Trainee/Apprentice of the Year Award’. This award sought to ‘find that young person who is already demonstrating the potential to contribute greatly to the future of a UK company and the composites industry as a whole’. James Stewart was CCP Gransden’s nominee for this award. CCP Gransden is funding James through his engineering degree, providing him key industry skills and engaging him in numerous projects. Despite being CCP Gransden’s youngest full-time employee, James is a core member of the team who can now be regularly relied upon.
