As designers and aircraft companies begin to look for esthetics and ergonomics innovative solar protection to equip their cabin windows so as to diversify their offer.
Vision Systems has anticipated this trend and developed a wide range of breakthrough solar protection solutions including shading system. Always moving towards innovation, the company has made significant progress in the development of polarizing systems, enhancing them with precise remote-controlling to set the window to any level of shading while taking weight reduction issues into account.
Ongoing innovations:
Licensee of Research Frontiers, Vision Systems has launched innovative window polarizing solutions, called Nuance and Noctis, allowing to control either individually or centrally the amount of light entering the cabin. The Nuance polarizing system is a dimmable window that can be instantly set to any level of shading from transparent to dark so as to ensure visual comfort.
Noctis shares the same qualities and can achieve total blackout. Consistent switching speed and shading level give the cabin an amazing look and comfortable feeling. Both can be operated through integrated touch panels, crew control screens and PEDs.
This new technology opens up a new array of design possibilities for aircraft and helicopter. Noctis can be used as solar protection or as cabin divider, allowing areas of privacy. Vision Systems offers also a specific privacy wall, Eclipse, that can instantly switch from transparent to private and is ideal to ensure privacy in particular areas of first class letting light through.
The polarizing system range allows different combinations to cover a large possibility of integration and answers a maximum of aircraft needs in term of ergonomy, comfort and interior design. As an alternative to Noctis, you can combine a single roller shade with Nuance in order to achieve the full black out solution.
Vision Systems is working on an upgraded version of these products, Nuance Xlite and Noctis Xlite based on certified composite glass. Reducing the thickness by half, the Xlite solution is a weight saving and scratch resistant solution.
It has the look, feel and durability of real glass, fit and certified for aircraft usage, and will give aviation interiors an extra luxurious elegance.
Several ongoing projects related to Vision Systems polarizing shading systems are in the pipeline with major OEM.
New facilities and strategic partnerships:
The French Vision Systems dedicated workshop for polarizing windows shades is currently achieving serial production of the Nuance and Noctis windows.
Besides, Vision Systems is setting up manufacturing facilities in Florida, so as to come closer to all OEM based in North and South America. This smart move enhances the possibilities in terms of co-conception, facilitate logistics, customer support reactivity. US Serial production will be possible at the end of 2013.
To be successful, industry players need to join their forces to meet growing market expectation and build adapted partnerships. For this reason, Vision Systems and Vaupell signed a strategic partnership. Vaupell is a leading producer of airframe components for aircraft using plastics and composite technologies. The aim is to offer to the commercial manufacturers complete windows equipped with polarizing shade and its electronic remote control combined with standard manual shades; this new system would be integrated without any changes for the cabin.
Additional market segment:
Vision Systems is bringing its know-how in polarizing system to the marine segment – and more particularly superyachts, designed and owned by people who share the taste of ergonomics and aesthetics. With this goal in mind, Vision Systems participated for the first time to Mets last November 2012 (The most attended marine trade show of the sector) which hosts every year the main providers of yachting equipment and rewards the best products with the DAME.
For its first participation, Vision Systems has been rewarded with the CATEGORY AWARD in the Interior Equipment category for its Nuance fitted with a light sensor. The way it was applauded by the jury is descriptive of a real corresponding need on the yacht market. It is a strong source of credibility that will lead the company to be acknowledged as an Architect of Innovations in the marine world.
