On the strength of its expertise in electronically dimmable windows for the aeronautic industry, Vision Systems announces its collaboration with Sunpartner Technologies, the inventor of the Wysips® technology (an acronym for "what you see is a photovoltaic surface") to develop a dimmable window named Energia, that produces its own energy from a light source.
The unique polarizing solar protection solution will be unveiled at stand C9522 at NBAA, which takes place 22 to 24 October 2013 at Las Vegas, US. The Wysips® technology transforms any support into a self-powered surface, from the sun or artificial lighting. This wireless solution eliminates the network cabling for easier installation and maintainance.
By integrating the Wysips Glass technology into its solar protection systems, Vision Systems will propose an autonomous dimmable aircraft window while preserving its initial aesthetically attractive design. The solar energy harvested on the ground or in flight is stored in a battery integrated into the window. The generated electrical energy allows the solar protection system to run during the flight. The Wysips Glass technology produces 30W/m² of power while offering a remarkable light transmission rate (up to 90%).
"This new partnership confirms Vision Systems’ commitment to remain at the forefront of technological innovation and strengthens our position as a front-line player in the solar protection market for the aerospace industry," stated Carl Putman, president and CEO of Vision Systems.
"This collaboration will enable us to develop an integrated solution that will be completely independent from the aircraft’s electrical system, a perfect solution for the existing retrofit fleet."
