Through the cooperation with the Altdorfer company Suspa, RO-RA Aviation Systems has successfully found an experienced partner in the area of shock absorbing and vibration dampers and has completed its product portfolio in the aviation and aeronautic sectors.
In addition to the core business of tie rods and shock mounts, shock-absorbing systems will be developed in the areas of civil aviation and aeronautics.
The main focus of Suspa is the development and manufacturing of gas springs, hydraulic absorbers and electric adjustment systems. RO-RA completes the value chain in the area of product definition, qualification and completion, as well as the integration of shock elements in various assembly groups.
Initial success has been gained with the signing of supply contracts for the aircraft programmes A380 and A350 for its overhead storage compartments (OHSC). It is here that the advantages of the newly-developed shock-absorbing systems can be integrated to increase passenger comfort.
In contrast to the existing systems, the following features have been optimised:
- Homogeinity of the opening process
- Durability
- Installation space
- Weight
- Adjustability of the whole loading spectrum
Managing directors, Mr Josef Fellinger and Dr Michael Wengler, said: "We will closely observe the implementation of both projects and pursue any further optimisation potential. We see a lot of usage opportunities and will gradually proceed with taking these on."
The primary application fields lie in civil aviation, helicopters and aeronautics.
