Power Systems International is pleased to announce the expansion of its DD range of 28V DC Helicopter Start Systems – now with an enhanced scope of optional features.
The DD series is designed for aircraft engine starting and battery charging applications for indoor or outdoor ‘point of use’ installations, including: aircraft parking stands, maintenance hangars, avionics workshops, aircraft manufacturing plants, training simulators, cruise ships, drilling ships and offshore oil and gas platforms – all where a reliable high-stability DC power source is required.
The standard units are now manufactured with the following optional features:
- 600A/400A
- Stainless steel/mild steel
- IP54/IP43
- Fixed/mobile
- With/without input and output harnesses
Cable stowage frames included as standard unless requested otherwise.
The units can also be manufactured to customer specification, including but not limited to:
- Special paints and coatings
- Extended cabling
- Exde junction boxes and external connection boxes
- Built in batteries to ensure DC power even on mains failure
- Power connectors with remote control
The DD series is designed for connection to the normal 50Hz (or 60Hz) 3 phase 400V mains source and produces an output of 28V DC to provide all types of helicopters and small aircraft with a high stability power supply for charging on board batteries and to deliver a current limited short duration peak power output for engine starting.
The unit produces very little audible noise and no vibration, toxic exhaust fumes or environmental pollution as produced by diesel driven systems or when the aircraft is running its engines or APU. The system is designed to deliver the aircraft engine peak starting current of up to 2,400A and will keep the onboard battery fully charged whilst the aircraft is on the ground – reducing battery stress and preserving the life expectancy of expensive aircraft batteries.
