New Berlin, WI, US — ACS-NAI, EMTEQ’s Canadian location, is now offering a certified solution for the lav/galley water heater on Bombardier Challenger 600-1A11/-2A12/-2B16 aircraft.
On 10 February 2009 Transport Canada issued a service difficulty alert (AL-2009-01) indicating that in several cases the thermostat on the lav/galley water heater failed, causing temperatures to rise and the water heater’s insulation and adjacent aircraft insulation to overheat and smoke. On 3 March 2010, Bombardier released an advisory wire (AW600-38-2319, Rev 3) informing operators of ACS-NAI’s certified replacement for the water heater originally installed by KC Aviation.
ACS-NAI’s water heater kit replaces heating and insulation components of KC Aviation’s custom-designed water heater (P/N/ 444-0007). The kit will eliminate potential overheat and scalding hazards, and is a less expensive, less labour-intensive option than replacing the entire tank and heater.
Furthermore, ACS-NAI’s kit for Bombardier CL600 aircraft is Transport Canada (SA10-9) and EASA (10029833) certified, with FAA certification expected in May 2010. The kit is also designed for Hawker 125, Dassault Falcon F50, F200, Gulfstream G1159/G1159B, GIV, Lockheed Jetstar, Jetstar 2, Jetstream 4101 and Sikorsky S76 aircraft.
