German charter-flight airline Condor celebrated its 50th birthday by painting one of its fleet, a Boeing 757-300, in a special livery, using ANAC products.
The eye-catching design features coloured hearts and a ‘we like to fly’ (‘Wir lieben Fliegen’) tagline to represent Condor’s love of flying. It was created by Susanne Denkscherz, Art Director at McCann Erikson, in close cooperation with Armin Moser, Senior Contracting Manager at Condor Flugdienst, and Thomas Böttcher, ANAC’s Account Manager for North Germany. The design reflects the current slogan and advertising campaign used by the airline.
ANAC was able to supply the many colours required for this striking livery within a very short timeframe by using Aviox® Advanced 77702 Finish, a high solids, lead-free, user-friendly topcoat characterised by its durable, high-gloss appearance and excellent colour-stability.
Condor also specified ANAC’s pioneering Aeroflex HS 113FO2, a polyurethane ‘in-spar’ wing-coating used on the upper surface of the wing, where a coating must stretch with the wing movement during flight to avoid cracking. ANAC claims that the ‘film elongation’ properties of the new system by far outperform any other product on the market, as well as meeting today’s demands for long-lasting high-gloss, fewer layers, lower cost, and VOC compliance.
The paints were all applied at SprayAvia in Norwich, with on-site technical support from the ANAC UK office in Leicester.
Condor, and the airline’s tour operator Thomas Cook, are delighted with the service from ANAC, and the results. "Condor has used AKZO paint products for all our aircraft for many years," Armin Moser commented. "We are very satisfied with both the quality of the products and the service. We were particularly pleased by the speed with which ANAC matched the exact colours."
Based in Frankfurt, Condor carries approximately seven million passengers a year to 60 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
