AD Aerospace Equipment Selected By Continental Airlines For Spirent Systems Led Video Security Evaluation.
New Cabin Surveillance System to Provide Enhanced Security on Passenger Airliners
AD Aerospace Ltd. video security equipment has been selected by Continental Airlines, as part of a Spirent Systems cabin surveillance solution, for in-flight evaluation on two B777-200 airliners. The systems will enable the flight deck crew to selectively view the flight deck door, passenger cabin, and aircraft galley areas, therefore increasing their awareness of any developing situations and the security onboard the aircraft.
‘Spirent believes this evaluation will allow us to produce a major enhancement in the safety and security of passengers and flight crews,’ said Scot Carpenter, Business Development Manager, Spirent Systems. ‘During the six month evaluation time at Continental we will be trying out several configuration options which will provide data for establishing critical success factors for a fleet wide implementation.’
The security system consists of several cameras; a digital video server and two PC based flight deck displays. The flight deck crew can select a view from any or all of the cameras at any one time allowing them to monitor the entire aircraft, to detect any suspicious behavior, potential threat or identify persons requesting entry to the cockpit.
‘We at AD Aerospace are very pleased to be working with Continental and Spirent on the development of these cabin surveillance solutions. The introduction of surveillance systems, such as FlightVu, to monitor the cabin of a passenger airliner is a major step forward in safety,’ said Mike Horne, Managing Director, AD Aerospace. ‘How a threat situation, is managed depends on the information available to the pilot. Cabin surveillance systems provide the pilot with clearer more accurate information and allows better and faster decision making.’
