AD Aerospace has been awarded Boeing technical offerability for its FlightVu systems on Boeing 737, 747, 767 and 777 airplanes. This new system will enable airlines to enhance their cockpit security with cameras watching the area outside the flight deck door, linked to the flight crew’s Multi Function Displays (MFDs).
The system will act similarly to AD Aerospace’s already offerable Electronic Flight Bag CIU by providing a Flight Deck Entry Video Surveillance System (FDEVSS) that has 2-4 cameras positioned to cover the approach to the flight deck door and the forward galley areas. This enables the flight crew to confirm who is outside the secured flight deck door when entry is requested and to ensure that they are not acting under duress or that any potential threat is nearby.
The crew selects the images on their MFDs from their normal seated positions without interfering with essential flight data. Once they are certain the situation is safe, they can allow the requested entry to the flight deck.
