328 Design GmbH (328DO), part of the 328 Group has partnered with Columbia Jet Service GmbH to offer an STC for ADS-B Out featured by Rockwell Collins on Gulfstream G150 & G200 aircraft, representing around 360 aircraft worldwide. This marks the first time that such an STC is available in Europe.
ADS-B technology is vital in maintaining future efficient airspace management particularly during busy periods. It uses satellite and transponder technology to provide key benefits in an ADS-B environment, including the capability for more aircraft to operate safely in the same airspace, so congestion is reduced. It allows more direct aircraft routing enabling significant time and fuel savings and enhanced flight safety and collision avoidance. Aircraft with ADS-B Out will provide air traffic controllers with crucial ‘pin point’ positional and flight information data.
Jörg Gorkenant, Chief Operating Officer and Head of 328DO commented: "We are very pleased to offer this important ADS-B Out STC for Gulfstream G150 & G200 aircraft. It not only enhances aircraft visibility and reduces the risk of air to air collision but it also offers added comfort and convenience for operators and their passengers, as well as reducing the overall cost of ownership. With the mandate dates fast approaching and thousands of aircraft remaining to equip, we encourage owners and operators to take advantage of it now."
ADS-B Out compliance is required by June 7th, 2020 in Europe, preceded by the US on January 1st, 2020. The ADS-B STC is already mandatory in Australia, Canada (Hudson Bay and Oceanic Airspace), China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam.
For aircraft owners wanting to go ahead with the STC, 328 and ACC Columbia offer a number of advantages including minimal aircraft downtime, no significant change to the original aircraft equipment, lower costs than other ADS-B Out installations and negligible impact to the AC configuration.
