Columbia Metals Semi-Finished Non-Ferrous Metals
Columbia Metals is one of the leading non-ferrous metal stockholders in Europe. Our stock range includes high-performance copper, nickel and stainless-steel alloys for all industries and applications. We specialise in the supply of high-performance alloys with superior strength characteristics for the most technically demanding applications. You will find our alloys in critical applications from aerospace to marine, from offshore oil and gas to chemical processing, and from power generation to motorsport.
Aerospace alloys for technically demanding applications
Columbia Metals has a large stock range of fully traceable materials ready for immediate supply to the aerospace industry. We have established a collection of dedicated aerospace grades in stainless steel, nickel and copper-based alloys, including a range of our own trademark alloys to meet the needs of more demanding safety critical components.
Alloy ranges include the BS “S” series stainless, DTD specifications, BS B series of copper-based alloys and other grades including thermal expansion alloys, nickel superalloys and our own range of trademark alloys.
Trademark alloys for aerospace applications
Uniquely within the stockholding industry, Columbia Metals has established itself as a supplier of its own extensive range of trademark alloys. Our flagship alloy is Nibron Special, an extra-high-strength copper nickel silicon. Nibron displays exceptional strength, toughness and corrosion resistance. Within the aerospace industry, typical applications of Nibron include aircraft landing gear bushes, actuating sleeves, steering gear, bearing bushes, non-magnetic bolts and control surface components.
Aerospace approvals for non-ferrous metal supply
When purchasing from Columbia Metals you can be assured you’re in safe hands. We have ISO 9001:2015 certification audited yearly by the British Standards Institute (BSI). In addition, we hold the finest approvals for material supply into aerospace manufacturers including Rolls-Royce, Messier-Dowty, BAE Systems, Honeywell and Agusta Westland.
All our material is fully certified with full batch traceability and we can provide certification from Lloyd’s Register (3.2) and DNV. With our qualified team of metallurgists, we are available to respond to any technical and material enquiries, free of charge.
One of Europe’s most extensive ranges of alloys
Columbia Metals stocks material in round bar, hexagon, sheet, flat bar, square and tube in sizes from 1/4in to 10in diameter. We are able to cut material to meet customer requirements and can offer ultrasonic testing, precision bar grinding and chemical/mechanical analysis as required. Through our nationwide branch network, material is physically available ex-stock in our warehouses for next day delivery within the UK and immediate dispatch worldwide.
Specialised steel and nickel forgings with fast delivery
Through a partnership with a long-established forge in Italy, Columbia Metals also offers specialised steel and nickel forgings. Products available are forged rings with an outside diameter of up to 1,250mm and inner diameter of up to 900mm, in addition to flanges, valves, hollow bars, adapters and seats. Forgings are available in a variety of steels as well as nickel and aluminium alloys.
